After racking up a slew of awards, accolades and film festival screenings as a high school student, Morgan Hawkins now has her sights set on a journalism and documentary filmmaking career. She earned widespread honors for a documentary she co-produced with Ajani Obaseki, profiling a man named Michael Woody, who was serving prison time for murder and burglary. The documentary highlighted a prison program that rehabilitates inmates through education, and the impact the program had on Woody's life.

The project was awarded Best Broadcast Feature Story at the All American High School Film Festival in New York, and won Best Non-fiction/Documentary Short at the Anacostia Youth Media Festival. She's a recent graduate of District of Columbia International School, where she studied news and documentary production and helped launch Dragon TV  — the school's student news channel. She plans to attend Ithaca College in the fall, and pursue a career in broadcast journalism and documentary filmmaking. One day, she hopes to own her own production company.

The Douglas W. Mummert Scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing a career in any aspect of the television industry with a focus on community service, and is administered by The NATAS Foundation.

The first time Talan Collins walked into a newsroom, he knew the sound: Phones ringing, keyboards clicking, pens tapping were the audio track of an urgency he carried in himself. It sounded like his own need to seek out the truth, and to air the points of view of voices seldom heard.

Talan recently graduated from Columbia River High School in Vancouver, Washington. He is the recipient of the Mike Wallace Scholarship, funded by CBS and administered by The NATAS Foundation.

In high school Talan joined a handful of students to change their school’s television news division to a multiplatform organization reaching thousands within and beyond the school’s walls. As anchor of The Rapids Report, Talan interviewed local leaders and state officials and moderated civic panels, looking through the lenses of school district issues and student concerns. It became a huge national hit reaching all the main stream radio station nationwide including the Casey Kasem Top 40 countdown and moving its way down the charts in the top tens spots followed by his third hit single “Tears of Tears” with its strong drum patterns and base lines it was a instant hit with all the dj’s and fans ..after recording those hits with Mic Mac Records Tonasia pursued a freelance music career working with different producer and releasing different styles of music with numerous record labels releasing his first freelance hit single ( It Must Be love ) which was released on Metropolitan records in the 90’s …. collaborating and working together with numerous producers , friend , Dj’s and recording with them and coming up with all different types of elaborate edits , mixes and songs on different record Labels there was no stopping the music and magic that was being infused in ideas and different talents that was coming together in these production with Tonasia. There collaboration and compilations series with different genres of music and record companies through out his musical career was the right choice !!!! Truly a fun and magical experience.
